Military Odyssey

Postby Sokolowski » Tue Aug 30, 2011 7:12 pm

Just joined the forum after seeing these guys at the 2011 Military Odyssey event!

The event itself was great with lots of committed reenactors - there were plenty of time perdiods to choose from too.
However the event was pretty expensive (£16.50 for one day per person)

Anyways I enjoyed going and picked up a few things while I was there (British webbing cross-straps, a canteen and a Polish hat). I picked up a post-war plain green Rogatywka. However, I'd like to get a new cap badge so that the eagle has a crown. Does anyone know where to get a cheap one? any places online where I could buy cheap Polish ww2 military gear (reproduction or not) would be pretty good

many thanks! :D

Hello Sokolowski!
Welcome on our forum. The best place to get some polish stuff is ebay. Here is a link to the website, where you can order badges:

Thanks for the link! I've been looking for someplace to buy some decent quality badges for a while.

As I recall, you reenact the 3rd Carpathian rifle division? I'm planning on getting some uniform soon - just gotta save a little more money!
Thanks again for your help.

Do you use the 'battle dress' uniforms the British used in Europe or the 'tropical uniform' (with shorts etc) that was used in Africa? I seem to recall you reenact both the Italian and the North African campaigns, so I'm not exactly sure which uniform to get. :? Any advice as to which uniform you use the most would be appreciated.

Also, If you know which events First to Fight with be at this year that would be helpful - I'd quite like to see the group again. I've started to look around the forum, but it's slow going as I have to translate everything...

Thanks,
Sokolowski.

Hi,

On the desert soldiers used both types of uniforms KD & BD depending on the weather conditions. The similar was in Italy where winter cammo has been added.

For understand it, please have a look on this topic, you can see the soldiers of SBSK (Polish Independent Carpathian Rifle Brigade):

In our group we decided to use KD only for Africa and BD with KD elements for Italy.

Here you can find the minimum requirements for SBSK or 3 DSK:

We don't have any more events planned for this year

If you have any questions just ask ;)

Sorry to hear that you don't have any more events this year :( Oh well...

By the way, do the group use deactivated rifles or blank firing ones?
Thanks for your help.

Haven't got my full uniform yet :(
I've got a few bits and pieces so far but there's quite a lot to go.

Btw, I'm gonna try and get the tropical uniform for now
